Kelly Chastain is a science education specialist and consultant in Nashville, Tennessee. She currently serves as the Science and STEM Specialist for Rutherford County Schools, focusing primarily on the secondary level. Kelly also serves as a subject matter specialist for the ongoing development of curriculum and resources for the implementation of Tennessee’s new science standards as well as a member of the review team for the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network’s (TSIN) STEM School designation award.
Kelly has over 15 years of experience in education, including 11 years as a high school teacher. Prior to joining Rutherford County’s district office, Kelly worked for Vanderbilt’s Center for Science Outreach and has also served as the Tennessee Department of Education’s Science Coordinator (K-12).
Kelly earned a B.S. in Biology as well as a M.S. from Middle Tennessee State University. She also holds a Doctorate of Education in K-12 Educational Leadership and Policy from Vanderbilt University.
