The Urban Green Lab staff spanned the city on our favorite holiday- Earth Day! Our Executive Director, Jennifer, spoke to 400 students at USN and then headed over to Schneider Electric to give a presentation on our work towards more sustainable education in Nashville.
AmeriCorps VISTA Lexie Lipham and outreach volunteer Anne Laurel Latimer went to Jere Baxter to lead class on sustainability through the lens of public health and water usage. We were impressed with the level of interest the 8th graders expressed in the subject matter. AmeriCorps VISTA Erin Luce and summer intern Charlotte McGoldrick tabled at Caterpillar Financial's annual Earth Day Festival. Food trucks, music, and other eco-centric vendors made this event a great community-building and fun affair.
St. Henry School's 1st grade class has been celebrating Earth Day all week. AmeriCorps VISTA Eileen got to revisit her alma mater and talk about sustainability to sixty 1st-graders. The proudly showed her their up-cycled creations they crafted from trash. We are so thankful that such an abundance of Earth-centric celebrations took place across the green city of Nashville on this special day- as if we needed another reason to show our love for the planet!
